Wendy: Hello! Good morning! We are here with
Federico. Tell us Federico, where are you from?
Federico: (In Italian) I come from Italy and I have
been living in Mexico for a few years in this wonderful country, and I’m here
because I had some problems with my teeth.
Wendy: So, what kind of treatment you had in here?
Federico: (In Italian) I got a root canal and a new
dental crown. Soon I’ll do a teeth whitening, and I’ll come here next year.
Wendy: SO what do you think about your treatment
here? Our installations? And what do you think about our doctors?
Federico: (In Italian) Everything was perfect,
professional, kindness and great work proficiency. I really recommend everyone
to come to this excellent place.
Wendy: What do you think about Cancun?
Federico: (In Italian) Cancun is a paradise,
paradise to live in, vacationing, to work, is a very cool place.
Wendy: Thank you so much for your confidence, for
all your patience, you are such a great patient. Thank you so much!
Federico: (In Italian) It has been a pleasure,
thanks! Bye!
Wendy: Bye-bye!
A Root Canal procedure is used when your tooth is
damaged to the pulp OR When the cavity has reached or is very close to the
pulp. It is mainly used to prevent or remedy infection or pain.
It is used to prevent the infection and save or TRY
to save the tooth. It is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is
badly decayed or has become infected. Remember a Root Canal is the last option
before an extraction.
During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp
are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without
treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses
may form. The Root Canals we perform at our clinic are done in a couple of sessions.
If you have a lot of decay, and the pulp becomes
infected, the infection may spread through the root canal system of the tooth.
This may eventually lead to an abscess. If root canal treatment (RCT) is not
carried out, the infection will spread and the tooth may need to be taken out.
If we suggest you should get a Root Canal and you
decide not to have it, the alternative is to have the tooth removed. Once the
pulp is destroyed, it can’t heal and it is not recommended to leave an infected
tooth in the mouth.
Why do I have to set a crown after a root canal?
The process for root canals has two steps. First,
the root canal is performed so we can remove the pulp, this means all the small
nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth. The second part is the prosthetic
part, to place the posts and the crown.
Does the root canal last forever?
The longevity of a root canal depends on the dental
care you have after the procedure and many other factors. It can last for
a long time with the proper care, but not forever. Remember a root canal is one
of the last ditch efforts to save a tooth.
Can my tooth get infected after a root canal?
It depends on what the reason was for doing the
root canal, if it was infected before or because an abscess existed, then we
need to prescribe an antibiotic for the infection and in specific situations we
may need to do the same to prevent infection after we finish the treatment.
